On December 7th 2007 the first conference on “Informal Learning and Active Citizenship” took place in Göttingen.
More than 75 participants from 15 European countries gathered to discuss the results of one of the most successful projects carried out by partners of the blinc-community.
There were experts from European grass-root projects working with “non-mainstreaming” target groups, educational experts from Universities, schools and training institutes as well as decision makers from the national and regional governments and funding organisations, members of the European Commission and Parliament.
The conference had a strong practical impact – in a circuit 3 transnational workshops about evidencing citizens’ competences in 5 exemplary European grassroot projects were offered, dealing with a environmental youth project in Germany, neighbourhood communities in the Netherlands, survivors of domestic violence in Romania, rural women associations in Latvia and long-term unemployed migrants with reading and writing difficulties in Sweden.
The experts met at the wonderful resort of the Lake of Seeburg in the premises of the “Graf Isang” a well known Restaurant and meeting centre at the lake’s shoreline.
The conference was extremely successful and the ACT!-Project will be continued and transformed into a European ACT! Network - we already have experienced and most committed partners from RO, PL, NL, PT, TR, SE, DE, AT, CY, LV, MT, UK, BG, IT and FR.
Take a look at the ACT-Website which is still a growing portal (in 9 languages) but already offers a full fledged online self-evaluation system for evidencing competences in informal learning contexts.
